FAQ
Why does the CHE ranking not calculate a composite overall indicator?
Most existing rankings refer to one composite overall indicator as the basis for their major league table. Instead CHE ranking is multi-dimensional and does not aggregate individual indicators which measure different dimensions of the performance of universities into one overall value. Calculating an overall indicator means to give weights to the individual indicators. But there are neither theoretical nor empirical reasons for assigning particular weights to particular indicators. CHE ranking leaves the decision about the importance of indicators to the users who may have very different preferences and priorities with regard to indicators.
