Benchmarking Internationalisation – EBI Workshop in Berlin on April 28 and 29
In the endeavor to further develop benchmarking practices throughout European Higher Education, the CHE is partnered with ESMU, UNESCO-CEPES and the University of Aveiro in a project called the European Benchmarking Initiative, funded by the European Commission.
Three workshops focusing on specific benchmarking themes were initiated, including “Benchmarking Internationalisation,” spearheaded by the CHE and held on April 28th and 29th in Berlin. Only a limited number of registrants were allowed so as to offer a partcipant-oriented opportunity to explore how to benchmark internationalisation and to address the specific needs of HEIs. Key speakers such as Mr. Bernd Wächter from ACA, Dr. Rober Coelen of Leiden University, Ms. Marina Kundu of Sciences-Po in Paris, Nadine Burquel of ESMU, and our own Isabel Roessler of CHE-Concept and Uwe Brandenburg of CHE-Consult presented their perspectives and examples of benchmarking internationalisation. In addition, attendees benefitted from two intensive, hands-on sessions in which they identified objectives, formulated solutions and created action plans for their own benchmarking projects. The workshop attracted a very diverse group of 34 participants from 14 different countries, including outside of Europe. Feedback from the workshop was very positive. As one participant noted, it was “a very helpful workshop with lots of new ideas. I found it brilliant that there were many participants from all over Europe – the best way to get an international perspective.”
