CHE-Forum: Internal implementation of tuition fees

Lively exchange of stimulating ideas as well as snares and traps on implementation of tuition fees. Agreement: key success factor is the quality of the offers.

More than 70 participants from higher education institutions which are introducing tuition fee models convened for an exchange of experience in Kassel. The event was hosted by CHE Centre for Higher Education Development within the series of events known as CHE-Forum.

The exchange of stimulating ideas focussed on three aspects: the organisation of internal processes (such as the participation of students or the distribution of funds among central administration and departments), defending of social tolerability (such as student funds OWL) and marketing. It was agreed that the key success factor is the quality of the offers made. However, quality must be right to turn the implementation of tuition fees into a success, and to make students accept a private share of the costs.
