U-Multirank Final Conference: attend via live stream
On 9 June 2011, the U-Multirank project will present its results and hand over its final report to the European Commission in Brussels. The project, initiated by the European Union, saw the development of a multidimensional global ranking of higher education institutions, and included a trial with 150 higher education institutions in a feasibility study.
The results of this study are now available and will be presented during the final conference involving more than 200 participants from across Europe. Due to the huge interest, the conference will be repeated in the afternoon. It is also possible to follow the conference via a live stream on http://www.squarestream.tv/U-Multirank. Questions and comments can also be made on Twitter #umultirank.
The announcement of the U-Multirank project two years ago marked a response from the European Union to the shortcomings of the existing higher education system. A concept which avoids the limitations of worldwide rankings and takes into account the different national structures and cultures in the higher education system should be developed. In addition to CHE Centre for Higher Education, the partners of the project are the Dutch Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) from Twente University, the Dutch Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) from Leiden University and researchers from Leuven University in Belgium. During the final conference on 9 June 2011, the project partners will present the opportunity for a fair and valid international comparison.
